Michael discusses how he has benefited from DataFlex Reports as a developer, and a custom built framework that he developed with Sean Bamforth, for testing and automating DataFlex Reports. The testing framework allows the pre-definition of the parameters that a report will use, and schedules the report to Run as needed. It includes reporting from straight tables, database views, and embedded SQL statements. This allows the developer to test ALL the reports in an application, with one button click. The resulting reports are printed to PDF files, which can be easily reviewed by the client.
The WebApp Framework is constantly extended with new controls and features. During this presentation you will see how you can utilize DataFlex 19.1 to upgrade your web applications user interface and enhance its security and performance with Server Web Properties.
Mike will look at how we can create RESTful JSON-based Web Services in DataFlex and some of the reasons it is important that we do that. In addition he will discuss some of the design constraints which make such services truly "RESTful", as opposed to simply being JSON-RPC over HTTP, and how we can go about meeting those in our APIs.
